Group fitness is one of the most fun and motivating ways to get movement into your day. With the energy of others around you, it’s easy to push yourself and feel supported by the group. And with an instructor there to adjust your form and offer modifications, group fitness is a good way to get moving if you’re not sure where to start.

Group exercise classes come in a wide range of difficulty, style, and cost. When you’re getting started working out in the Gallatin Valley, here are some of the many places to sign up for a class.

Gallatin Valley YMCA

The Y is an affordable gym option with plenty of group fitness classes. Spin classes, yoga, strength training, and chair classes are all on the schedule. And once you’re a member of the YMCA, all group fitness classes are free. Monthly rates start at $42 for an adult, and assistance programs are available as well.

Bozeman Hot Springs

If you’re trying to make the most of your money, combine a membership that includes hot spring soaking, a gym, and group fitness. Bozeman Hot Springs is a convenient choice in the Four Corners area. Pilates, cycling, step aerobics and barre are all on the schedule, among others. You can get a pass for the day or for the whole month.

Bozeman Public Library

The health and wellness offerings at Bozeman Public Library are free options open to the public. Yoga, group walks, gyrokinesis (a movement method that connects the whole body) and Qigong (tai chi is a form of Qigong) are all on the calendar throughout the year.

Spire Climbing

When it comes to different ways to move, rock climbing can be an engaging way to get a workout. Spire Climbing also offers free yoga classes to its members. Though monthly gym memberships can be expensive, if you’re going to several group exercise classes every week, it can quickly pay for itself.

Your Yoga Bozeman

Your Yoga is one of the more affordable dedicated yoga studios in the Gallatin Valley, making the practice of mobility, stretching and strength more accessible. With a $35 intro month including unlimited classes, you can try out the studio at an affordable rate before you commit to a membership.

Cove Athletic Club

Cove Athletic Club in Belgrade is a private gym that offers group fitness classes as well. Memberships come with an unlimited class pass and sauna access. Fitness classes range from yoga and barre to kickboxing and Zumba.

Belgrade Community Library

The Belgrade Community Library also offers group fitness classes, along with other programming for children and adults. Yoga on the Lawn, Gentle Yoga and Get Up & Move (geared toward preschoolers) are all community-based classes for moving your body.

It’s always a good idea to talk to your primary care provider before you start a new exercise routine, especially if you have questions, concerns, or preexisting conditions or past injuries. Community Health Partners offers sliding scale rates to make appointments affordable, regardless of the patient’s income.
