Provider Profile

It’s Women’s History Month, which makes it the perfect time to reflect on some of the selfless women in our healthcare system. Florence Nightingale and Clara Barton may have more recognizable names, but our women providers at Community Health Partners ensure our patients receive superior care weekly. Hear from Kristi King, RN, FNP, and Sara Stromberg, DNP, FNP-C, providers at our Bozeman and Livingston clinics, about what they love about working in healthcare and with CHP.

Tell Us About Your Background

Kristi: I grew up right here in Bozeman, but my schooling and career took me to Oregon, Maryland, and even Africa. Working in health education in Guinea and the Central African Republic, I gained a unique perspective on empowering people to take control of their health through preventative education.

Sara: I was born in Dillon and grew up mainly in Hamilton, with short stints in Twin Falls, ID, and Big Timber. I earned a BA in Community Health from Carroll College in 2010, a BS in nursing from MSU in 2016, and a doctorate in Nursing Practice from MSU in 2022. Before becoming an NP, I worked as a Med/Surg and Perioperative RN for 6 years. My first career was as a certified Health Education Specialist.

What personal and professional experiences brought you to this type of work?

Kristi: After college, I served in the Peace Corps in Guinea, West Africa, working on public health projects. I loved the education side of things – talking to young people about safer sex and working with communities on malaria prevention and vaccination campaigns. Ultimately, I returned to nursing school and earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree.

Sara: My enthusiasm for health promotion brought me to where I am today. Being a Nurse Practitioner allows me to blend my public health and nursing experience to help people lead healthy, active lives. My specialty is now in family practice, where I focus on the total health care of individuals and families across the lifespan.

What made you want to work for CHP?

Kristi: I was drawn to CHP's mission of providing healthcare to everyone, regardless of ability to pay, and reducing health disparities.

Sara: CHP’s mission and vision align with my own personal values. I love that CHP is a welcoming, non-judgmental environment and is patient-centered.

What do you love about your community in Montana?

Kristi: Bozeman is a beautiful place to live and work. I love the wealth of outdoor activities that are available to us here. In addition, I love to see folks looking out for one another with a strong sense of community.

Sara: I love the kind and friendly people and the proximity to the mountains and river. I’m an avid biker and skier, so the landscape here is perfect for my pastimes.

Thank you, Kristi and Sara, for all you do for CHP and empowering women to advocate for their health. If you are looking for a primary care provider in the Bozeman or Livingston area, visit one of our clinics to get started.
